Applications are now being accepted!
Please be sure to read through the application carefully and answer all the questions to the best of your ability. Teams will be chosen on BEST FIT, not first to apply, so be sure to take the time needed to answer as accurately as possible. We encourage talking to coaches and division directors to get feedback for placement. We do our best to place teams where they will be most competitive. We rely heavily on your application information to do this! We anticipate team attendance from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories & Yukon!
Once groups are filled, there will be no team movement between tiers.
Applications will be reviewed by our U9, U11 & U13 Directors as well as our VP Hockey Operations.
Applications will be accepted until all spots have been filled.
Accepted teams will begin to be notified on December 5. Notification will continue until all spots are filled. This often takes until mid January.
Once teams are accepted, they will follow the registration link provided to upload their roster, teams HCR - Hockey Canada Registration as well as pay the registration fee.
All teams are guaranteed 4 games
Swag Bags for all players
Heart & Hustle and Player of the game are awarded for games 1, 2 & 3
Medals for all players in game 4
All players have the opportunity to play in the category All Star Game
All players have the opportunity to participate in the Mini Skills Competition
U9 is Full Ice Format

TOURNAMENT DETAILS
Spring on Ice is a Alberta Minor Hockey winter season wrap up tournament.
HSL, spring or summer leagues are not permitted to apply or attend.
This year Spring On Ice will run March 26, 27, 28, 29, 2026
All teams will play 4 games.
Players will receive a swag bag at registration for their first game.
1 - Heart & Hustle per team will be awarded for games 1, 2 & 3.
1 - Player of the Game per team will be awarded for games 1, 2 & 3
All players will receive medals at game 4
U9 games are 3-15 min straight time periods (no score kept - FULL ICE FORMAT)
U11 games are 3-20 min straight time periods
U13 is 3-25 min straight time periods
Tournament fees will be requested AFTER teams have been accepted.
Payment will be requested via etransfer
Accepted teams are required to get a travel/tournament permit approval through their association or governing body.
Teams will be required to upload their HCR, Hardcard (Hockey Canada Registration)
Teams are asked to choose the EFHL tier they will be most competitive in. Please be sure to select the correct tier as movement will not be possible after teams are selected and groups are formed.
Mini Skills & All Star games participants will be randomly chosen.
Players will have the opportunity to enter these draws after teams are registered.
Application draws will be sent out to teams in January
IMPORTANT!
- Filling out the application DOES NOT guarantee you a spot in this tournament.
- You will be contacted at the email address you provide in December if your team is invited to participate.
- Once teams are invited, they will have 24 hours to accept their spot and pay tournament fees.
If a team withdraws from SOI less than 60 days prior to the first day of the tournament, no refund will be issued. If a team withdraws more than 60 days prior to the start of SOI, a partial refund will be issued at the boards discretion.
Spring on Ice is a Hockey Alberta sanctioned tournament. You will be required to provide your teams Hockey Canada Registration (HCR). Only players and coaches that are listed on your Hockey Canada approved roster will be permitted to participate. If teams have players that are not on their roster, teams will be disqualified.
