So why choose us?
At KC South, the number one goal is fun. This applies not only to the young players, but also their coaches and parents.
Being a smaller organization, we can be more personable than other larger, minor hockey organizations. Many members have created lifelong friendships, lasting long past when their children's minor hockey careers are over.
We offer one of the lowest introductory registration rates going. This allows your youngster to learn to skate if required and try the game of hockey, without a major financial cost to the parents.
In the summer, KC South holds conditioning camps for players at a very low cost or free of charge. This allows the young stars to work out the kinks of summer vacation and be prepared for the upcoming season. We also purchase extra ice time for the teams, whenever possible.
KC South is part of a larger organization in our city, the Knights of Columbus. With it's 60 years of tradition... and stability!
We cannot succeed without volunteers
Every season brings a new group of young players onto the ice, while returning players continue to grow in confidence, skill, and love for the game. Watching that development year after year is one of the most rewarding parts of being involved with KC South; but it only happens because of the incredible volunteers who make it all possible.
As teams are formed each season, we'll be looking for volunteers to fill a variety of important roles, including assistant coaches, jersey parents, timekeepers, tournament coordinators, and more. Every volunteer plays an important part in creating a positive experience for our players and helping the season run smoothly for everyone.
We're always looking for coaches, especially at our younger age levels. You don't need years of hockey experience to make a meaningful impact. If you enjoy working with kids and can skate, we'd love to have you on the ice. Our youngest players benefit most from positive role models who are excited to help them learn, build confidence, and have fun.
Whether you volunteer on the ice or behind the scenes, your time and support make a lasting impact on our players and our association. As a thank you, we celebrate our volunteers each year with a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.
