HOW TO BECOME A COACH

Thank you for your interest in coaching. If you are a new or returning coach, the first step is to complete the KC South Coach Sign Up

Hockey Alberta has varying different age-specific courses. All courses have an online module and an in-person clinic.

Please complete the intake form and we will notify you by email to confirm what credentials are required to coach at the division you have applied for.

Background Check

All coaches are required to submit a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) every three years.

How to obtain a VSC

  1. You can apply for a Police Information Check and VSC from the Edmonton Police Services.
  2. You must select the Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check for Volunteers ($15)
  3. Submit your receipt to treasurer@kcsouthhockey.ca.
  4. Please take a picture or scan of your completed document and EMAIL your completed VSC to registrar@kcsouthhockey.ca.  Registrar will update your HCR profile with this information.

The Respect in Sport Activity Leader/Coach Program educates coaches and activity leaders to recognize, understand and respond to issues of bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination.

This is an online course and a minimum requirement for all coaches.

This course expires every four years. If you are unsure when your course expires, please log into your Hockey Locker account to confirm.
